FOREWORD

A golden rule to achieve success is to be positive in meeting and overcoming challenges. There are no two ways about it. It is true especially in the business world and the success story of Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong is a classic example.

Tan Sri Lim has never succumbed to difficulties. He always confronts challenges with steely will-power. It is because of this that he has reached the pinnacle of his business career.

There is much we can learn from him. If there were more entrepreneurs like Tan Sri Lim, Malaysia would have achieved more in its economic development.

Undoubtedly, he is one of the most successful businessmen in Malaysia. His struggles can be considered as part and parcel of Malaysia’s development experience.

A legendary figure in Malaysia, his success lies in his ability to see business opportunities in a desolate mountain and to turn it into a world-class tourist resort.

Tan Sri Lim has always played by the rules of the Government in his business operations and helped the Government fulfill its economic policy. He has successfully laid the groundwork for multi-racial joint ventures in our plural society, hence his contributions to the advancement of the nation’s economy, especially in tourism.

On this auspicious occasion of Genting’s 35th anniversary, I would like to congratulate Tan Sri Lim for having successfully built up Genting as one of the most successful conglomerates in Malaysia.

I also take this opportunity to commend him for telling his Genting story to share with us his experience in the development of the Genting resort. I hope his success story would inspire the younger generation to aim high in their endeavours.
