The Olive – Genting’s latest signature restaurant
New restaurant widens visitors’ choice, provides elegant alternative

Visitors to Genting – City of Entertainment are spoilt for choice when it comes to the assortment of attractions and facilities which makes the resort undoubtedly the region’s leading destination for leisure and entertainment.

Food and dining are no exception, and Genting is making its mark as a centre of culinary excellence. An increasing number of discerning visitors and connoisseurs are finding out just that, as they savour the dazzling range of cuisine now available at the resort.

The Olive, at the flagship Genting Hotel, is a contemporary continental restaurant and bar, and is one of Genting’s latest signature restaurants.

Its refined atmosphere, plush interiors and understated lighting, make The Olive a trendy, elegant venue for an evening of delightful wining and dining, or entertaining friends and clients. The Olive Bar, an oasis of tranquillity, sets the perfect mood for the evening as tantalising tapas complement your favourite wine, and you enjoy the music of the resident band.

But the Bar is only the beginning of an invigorating experience at The Olive. Opulence and sophistication are not the exception but the rule. The dining area, which comfortably accommodates up to 80 diners, also commands an open view of the kitchen, allowing guests to witness the formidable culinary skills of Chef Oliver Lopez and his crew members.

With more than two decades’ worth of experience in the culinary line, Chef Oliver’s passion for fine food and commitment to perfection has won him accolades from Tourism Malaysia and the Malaysian Tatler magazine. He personally undertakes recipe development, menu coordination, and the selection and training of kitchen personnel of The Olive.

Together, he and his team capture the diversity of Western, Mediterranean, Italian and Asian cuisine in a lavish Continental selection, sizzling steaks, delectable pizzas, ocean-fresh seafood, lamb, beef, and a full range of gastronomically intoxicating desserts guaranteed to satisfy even the most demanding palate.

The Olive’s signature dishes include Smoked Salmon Trout & Prawn with Mango Salsa appetiser; Fragrant Wild Mushroom & Fresh Herb-scented Soup; Roasted Tooth Fish with ‘Ponzu’ sauce from the Seafood Gallery; an otherworldly Caesar Salad; Wagyu Beef, and the gourmet Pizza Con Frutti di Mare.

Among the best entrees is Braised lamb shank with herbs of Provence, served with a cassoulet of beans; and from the charbroiler, diners can feast on Rack of Lamb with Basil marinade, embedded with caponata. Round up an unforgettable dinner with Hot Chocolate ‘Lava’ Cake set on dark pitted cherries, complemented with an Iced Orange Souffle.

The Olive also offers private dining in two VIP rooms, Merlot and Ravioli. The Merlot Room, seats ten diners comfortably, in the rustic ambience of an Italian trattoria, wine-racked from floor to ceiling with (no) bottles of wine. The finest premium and vintage wines from Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and South Africa are literally within arm’s reach.

Besides The Olive, Genting lives up to its Centre of Culinary Excellence reputation by boasting more than 90 F&B outlets, and a number of other specialty restaurants, including Ming Ren, the Genting Palace (at the Genting Hotel), Spice Garden and Imperial Rama.
